Tree work in Oak Beach
Fire country behind the beach houses
The slopes of Macalister Range National Park come down behind the houses, and the park's fire history maps a burnt area at Oak Beach and Pretty Beach. A larger burn ran from Turtle Creek north to Oak Beach Creek.
Park land is managed by the state and is never part of a private job. Fallen limbs and leaf build-up around a house on your own block are a different matter, and easier to deal with before the dry.

Oak Beach questions
After Jasper on the northern shore
What happened to the north end of the beach?
Douglas Shire Council says the northern Oak Beach coastline was significantly impacted during the Tropical Cyclone Jasper disaster event, and sand scraping and replanting were planned there.
Are the new plants near the northern carpark council's?
Yes. Council crews pulled out weeds such as Lantana and Guinea Grass, and about 500 native plants were to go in. Foreshore planting is public, so private work stops at the boundary.
Does council let a healthy tree be removed?
Douglas Shire describes removal as the last resort, to be used only after the other options have been assessed.
