Tree removal in Edmonton

Tree removal, pruning and stump grinding in Edmonton, on a wet coastal plain into which Trinity Inlet intrudes.

Tree work in Edmonton

Flat, wet ground by Trinity Inlet

The suburb is flat and low, and inlet country like that stays soft through the wet, and trees in it tend to root wide and shallow rather than deep.

Most people live west of the highway. The eastern side is relatively low lying and divided into larger lot sizes, so trees there are often bigger and further from a firm track for a truck.

Edmonton questions

Waterway parks, green waste and urgent removals

Who looks after trees along the waterways?

Council. Edmonton has several linear parks along its waterways, and residents are not permitted to modify, prune or remove public trees without a council permit. Only trees on your own block are quoted.

Where does the green waste from a job go?

Council's transfer stations are at Portsmith, Smithfield, Gordonvale and Babinda. Free green waste periods do not cover loads from garden maintenance contractors on behalf of residents, so disposal is part of the quote.

Can a tree that threatens the house come down at once?

State rules treat clearing needed to reduce the imminent risk the vegetation poses to people or infrastructure as exempt. Council's own planning rules still have to be checked.
